DXF Export for Solid Edge is an AutoCAD DWG file export add-in for Solid Edge®. This add-in gives Solid Edge the ability to export 3D solid data from a Solid Edge part and assembly document to 3D solids or meshes in an AutoCAD DXF file.
DXF Export for Solid Edge reads the solid models from the current Solid Edge part or assembly and writes them as 3D solids in an AutoCAD DXF file. It can also tessellate the solid bodies into individual triangular meshes. These meshes are then exported to a DXF file as 3D Polyface Mesh, 3D Face, Line or Point objects.
DXF Export for Solid Edge is very easy to use. It adds new commands to Solid Edge. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into Solid Edge and adds a new ribbon bar to the Solid Edge user interface called "Add-Ins" containing these newly added commands.

Since DXF Export for Solid Edge is a add-in for Solid Edge, it must be loaded into the Solid Edge environment before it can be used. Please follow the simple instructions in the DXF Export for Solid Edge ReadMe document which is copied into the installation folder. After you have loaded the add-in file into Solid Edge, simply click on the menu items in the "Add-Ins" ribbon bar to run these new commands.
The 'Add-Ins' ribbon bar consists of the following commands:
- Export - Exports meshes to a DXF file
- Help - Displays the DXF Export for Solid Edge help file
- Register - Registers your copy of DXF Export for Solid Edge
- About - Displays the DXF Export for Solid Edge About box

The AutoCAD DXF (Drawing Interchange Format, or Drawing Exchange Format) is a CAD data file format, developed by Autodesk as their solution for enabling data interoperability between AutoCAD and other programs. DXF was originally introduced in December 1982 as part of AutoCAD 1.0, and was intended to provide an exact representation of the data in the AutoCAD native file format, DWG (Drawing), for which Autodesk didn't (and doesn't) publish specifications.
DXF is probably one of the most widely supported vector formats in the world today. DXF is rich in features, including: support for 3D objects, curves, text, associative dimensioning, etc. Although DXF was developed to represent the data used in a CAD program, it is used by many programs as a "least common denominator" format for the exchange of many different types of data, most commonly vector-oriented information but also text and 3D polygons.

Our licenses are single computer licenses and are locked to each computer they are installed on. Basically, the license key is specific to the computer's Host ID (the MAC address of the computer), and will not work on another computer. The installer picks up the physical MAC address of the network card connected to the computer which is basically “Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter”. So unless you change your network card, the key will always work even if you reinstall your operating system. If your internal network is periodically assigning a different Host ID to your computer, then please find a solution for this with your IT department.
