Rhinoceros 3DM file export add-in for SpaceClaim
3DM Export for SpaceClaim is a Rhinoceros/OpenNURBS (.3dm) file export add-in for SpaceClaim. This add-in gives SpaceClaim the ability to export 3D solid and surface data from a SpaceClaim part or assembly document to 3D polygon meshes in a 3DM file.
SpaceClaim already has the ability to export to 3DM files. Solid objects in SpaceClaim are converted into solid objects in 3DM files. SpaceClaim does not offer an option to convert solids into polygon meshes in a 3DM file. The 3DM file format is an open format used by many applications to store polygon mesh data, such as TerrainCAD, our terrain mesh modeling software. Such applications have no use for solid data in 3DM files. 3DM Export for SpaceClaim gives SpaceClaim the ability to exchange data with such applications. It tessellates solid bodies in a SpaceClaim document into a set of triangular meshes. These meshes are then exported to a 3DM file as mesh objects. The 3DM file can then be imported into a variety of CAD applications.

3DM Export for SpaceClaim is very easy to use. It adds new commands to SpaceClaim. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into SpaceClaim and adds a new ribbon bar to SpaceClaim called "SYCODE" containing the newly added commands.

The 3DM File Format
The 3DM (3D Model) file format is the native file format of Rhinoceros, the NURBS modeling software from Robert McNeel & Associates. The OpenNURBS Initiative was founded by Robert McNeel & Associates in January 2000, with the sole purpose of providing CAD, CAM, CAE and computer graphics software users reliable methods for transferring 3D geometry between applications via the 3DM file format. TerrainCAD, our terrain generation, editing and modeling software, also uses the 3DM file format as its native file format. Back to Top

Software Licensing Terms
Our licenses are single computer licenses and are locked to each computer they are installed on. Basically, the license key is specific to the computer's Host ID (the MAC address of the computer), and will not work on another computer. The installer picks up the physical MAC address of the network card connected to the computer which is basically “Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter”. So unless you change your network card, the key will always work even if you reinstall your operating system. If your internal network is periodically assigning a different Host ID to your computer, then please find a solution for this with your IT department.
